Having to cope with depression can literally feel like the conclusion of the world. Visiting a psychiatrist or taking prescription medications may not be options you wish to explore.

Go outside and relish the sun for a little bit every day. It has been proven through studies that a correlation exists between lack of contact with sunlight and increased depression.

Try alleviating your depression symptoms through meditation. There are many advantages to meditation and they have been well documented to improve moods.

Do not use the words "depression" or "depressed" in your vocabulary. While very real, the words "depression" and "depressed" have a lot of extra baggage attached to them and can actually worsen the feelings of hopelessness. Forget depression call it a bad mood instead and reclaim the authority that's rightfully yours in the first place. It is much easier to think about raising your mood level than it is to consider it battling "depression", even though it is exactly what you are doing.
