Don't Miss Out On These 5 Basics of Article Writing
I love to create articles, short stories, poems, book reviews, novels or news reports.
For much more motivation and productive flow when you're writing, have a look at our gel pens at Den Of Goods ! It's great fun to witness your own work in print and generally a bonus if you may have some income out of it.
In this short note I would like to think of some main points that should be incorporated if you want your write-up to be noticed.
1. Love it! I believe it's vital - have passion for what you're writing. There are two purposes for this. Firstly is that it is so much easier to write when you're writing about something you enjoy. Do you own a weblog? Is it filled with things that make you delighted? Second is that readers can usually identify when you're writing from the heart - passion comes across! I feel that this is the basic to all writing - love it and enjoy it. Perhaps even when you have an assigned piece of writing - remember you promised your friend you 'd do a piece for him - do this from a point of enjoyment. This can mean inserting humor right into the write-up that may be successful if you know how to tell a joke; when you don't then forget it!
2. Grab a snappy title. Keep it short and have a bit of mystery in it or lead people in to the core. Make visitors want to read it. When I was a research Physicist I had to read so many scientific papers that it made my eyes bleed! The entire content was typically good yet the titles ... Possessing this experience led me to a fun means to get school students to create Science papers; I will get them to jot down their report just as if they have been a sensationalist journalist! Very good stuff - and it encouraged them to understand Science further.
3. Checklists. Everybody loves a list. How often do you click the link on a website when it says '10 means to see if you have the right partner' or' 7 means to improve your sales' or' 5 means to meet more girls/boys'; or '50 means to leave your lover' as Paul Simon pointed out. (Who is singing this in their head now?).
4. Just what is hot? Articles on the latest issues may get spotted. It can be about the newest fad in food, fashion, music or Science! Be cautious though as these write-ups normally have a short shelf life.
5. Paragraphs. Keep it short - people skim read and it's easier for them to pay attention to you if the paragraphs are short!
There are five concepts to work on. Did I follow my own personal rules? Let me know by writing to peter@writewithpeter.com.
Create some more yet enjoy it in the beginning!
