Why on Earth Should You Inject Anything into Your Lips !?
We are obsessed with our appearance. Half the population is fixated on becoming physical paragons, icons of perfection with skin, hair and stature of gods or goddesses, while the other half are staring deep into their souls and looking forward to an existence outside of our bodies after the rot has set in on the temporal temple of our ego and they move in with the gods and goddesses.
More and more of us are fighting to hold back time with our skin scraping, wrinkle eliminating efforts, just for a while, just while we have a few more photographs taken or fool one more member of the opposite sex. We push the reality of the fragility of everything , the impermanence of everything, away so that we can play just one more game. But we all are called for that final sleep time eventually.
Even those who are aware of the futility of this, even they unconsciously prop up the process by judging others by the way they look. Its hard- wired into us; we cannot look at a stranger without making presumptions about their character, weighing up their health and making conclusions from these judgements. Our brains are always busy compartmentalising everyone, putting them into boxes of this type and that type of person.
This pattern of behaviour probably springs from the oldest parts of our brain which was formed in a much more feudal time, when we were on a par with any other animal and when a stranger walking towards you might be a threat to your life. It obviously would have been prudent then to judge their health in order to weigh up your chances in a fight and to look carefully at their features to work out if they were one of your people or another kind.
These days, luckily, we don't have to do that, well not as often but the behaviour is still there, if only occasionally necessary. Today we look and judge whether a person is worth talking to, if they have money, if they look interesting and if we are attracted to them. Sometimes these questions run into each other; if you're looking attractive its because you can afford to have expensive clothes or cosmetic surgery. Or it could be the opposite if you can afford to have nice clothes and cosmetic surgery you have money and therefore you are attractive.
So is it any wonder that those who can get their nose straightened, their under eye bags flattened and their breasts plumped, do? There is a growing multimillion money business in cosmetic alterations, permanent and temporary. The surgical alterations are obviously permanent but many of the other treatments can be for a few months only and then can be redone or not. There is not a part of the face that cannot be changed though and lip injections of dermal fillers is just the latest treatment for those disenchanted with their natural form.
